“Does My AC System Need to be Repaired?”

Although there are potentially hundreds of reasons why your home’s central air conditioner may not be working up to par – or working at all – some more frequently occur than others.

At Optimum Air, we possess advanced levels of skill and experience in “all things central AC,” and that includes preventative maintenance, system troubleshooting, high quality repair work, plus new system design and installation.  Today, we’re ready to put forth our best effort on your behalf, as well.

You see, no matter what we might be wrong with it, if it’s repairable, we’re more than up to the job.  And that includes for any of the following common repair issues:

  1. AC System Need to be Repaired?Frozen inside coil
A frozen coil often indicates a problem with system airflow, such as restrictions caused by dirty air filters or a blocked return air ductwork.  A low amount of refrigerant can also cause a coil to freeze.
  1. Outside unit not functional
This typically indicates lack of power, contactor problems or even a faulty thermostat.
  1. Outside fan is not working
The outside fan is responsible for transferring the heat from your home to the outside air.   If the outside fan isn’t working, there is no heat transfer which can and eventually will cause your compressor to overheat.  That, in turn, can cause internal damage to the compressor.
  1. Low refrigerant
Refrigerant is the chemical that cools the air. Low refrigerant may indicate a leak or problem with the system.  If you see liquid forming around the base of your outdoor unit, you need to report it immediately to a licensed HVAC pro.
  1. Faulty wiring
Improper, haphazard, or uncertified A/C wiring is dangerous and a potential fire hazard. Faulty wiring often prevents the system from getting power, or can trip the circuit breaker.

What’s the best way to tackle these or any other air conditioning problems?  Well, unless you’re a licensed and experienced HVAC technician in your own right, AC troubleshooting and repair are jobs far better left to pros at Optimum Air.  We’ll make it our mission to restore cool, comfortable temperatures to your home just as quickly and efficiently as we can.
