 Don’t let the name “heat pump” fool you. Because when it comes to providing you with indoor comfort, it’s equal parts heating AND cooling.

That’s right:  one system that can replace your existing heating and cooling systems, just like that.

Heat pumps, unlike conventional HVAC systems, transfer heat rather than create it.

During the summer, a heat pump captures heat from inside a home and transfers it to the outdoor air through a condensing unit. During the winter, the process is reversed. Heat is captured from outdoor air, compressed, and released inside.

At times a new heat pump can be a difficult choice since rarely would you need a new furnace and central AC system at the same time. And yet, once you consider the key benefits of a heat pump system, you’ll find it can be worth the investment:

  • Use about 25% of the electricity of separate heating and cooling systems…that adds up to a big annual savings.
  • High efficiency heat pumps can generate about four times the amount of heat as an electric heating system while using the same amount of energy.
  • High-efficiency heat pumps also dehumidify better than conventional central air conditioners, resulting in additional cost savings and greater comfort.
  • Air source heat pumps often last for 20 years or more.  Compare that to the average 10 – 15 year lifespan of a furnace or AC system.
  • No ducts?  No problem. Air source heat pumps come in ducted and ductless models.
